Mckenzie Fields Alpacas
Based in the Manawatū, McKenzie Fields Alpacas has been breeding alpacas since 2005. What began as a family operation has grown into a well‑established stud focused on producing quality Huacaya alpacas, with particular emphasis on greys, roans, and coloured genetics.
With a strong background in pasture management and animal husbandry, our breeding decisions are deliberate and considered. We prioritise temperament, structural soundness, and fibre performance, and we breed selectively rather than for volume.
All of our alpacas are registered with the Alpaca Association of New Zealand (AANZ), ensuring accurate pedigree records and transparency around breeding history.
Alongside alpaca sales and stud services, we also work with our own fibre to produce Huacaya alpaca yarn, washed and carded fleece, and a small range of hand‑crafted alpaca products. These products reflect our appreciation for the fibre itself and the animals that produce it.
We are proud long‑standing members of the Alpaca Association of New Zealand (AANZ) and place a strong emphasis on after‑sales support and knowledge sharing. We want both the animals we sell — and the people who own them — to do well.
We are always happy to talk through:
- Getting started with alpacas
- General husbandry and care
- Breeding considerations
- Fibre and shearing expectations
Farm visits can be arranged by appointment. If you’d like to learn more about our breeding programme, animals, or farm, please feel free to get in touch.
